Okra

Okra for pickling. I only had enough for two jars. Sad!

Denver Roller Dolls

We went to the Denver Roller Dolls rally this Saturday, and it was fun. It was more of a sport and less of a brawl than I expected. Though there was plenty of good action. They even run on their front breaks, amazing! To say nothing of the costumes, I mean uniforms, and hilarious names like Doris Clobbersaurus (verging on theater is my kind of sport). Here's the DRD's link

chase me

Henry is an absolute sucker for this game.

Step one: Get the dog's attention

Step two: Hide behind an object (bush, coffee table, etc)

Step three: Psych out the dog

Step four: RUN! (He will catch you)

Autumn chill

Thermostat engaged for the first time this season. It is really nice to have evenings chilly enough to necessitate hot baths and snuggling. Just sayin'.

Brains!

Zombies. Sunday afternoon. This was a fun game. I came really close to kicking a**, which is to say I lost. (I'll get him next time to be sure.)

$1 Hammock

$1 hammock from a garage sale. Tiny, yes, but a hammock nonetheless.

On the phone with mom.

The view from my repose.

Salsa

Inspired by the book In Defense of Food I am trying to buy less and less ready made food, and do more home cooking. Bonus: any time I make something from scratch, even if it is just salsa, I feel totally justified doing a blog post on it.

Wasp killer

Look out wasps: Linton hates you, and he is armed.

Knit night

Every Wednesday we take over a corner of Barnes and Noble. We knit, chat, and generally take over the cozy chairs directly in front of the books on crafts.

Need a snap press? Just ask and someone will have one to loan you the very next week.

News from Blandings

Well, some of you will remember the 3rd floor store room in Blandings. Others of you may need to be told that this was once a room so packed with stuff you couldn't take a single step inside. Scott & Fran's Operation: Clean The Friggin' House Already is such an impressive undertaking that I felt compelled to share their recent triumph on this blog. Keep up the good work, folks!

Dani, I hope you don't read this blog...

My childhood friend, Dani, is having a baby in November. This is the sweater I've knit for her soon to be wee boy. I don't know if Dani reads this blog and I really hope not, but I'm so proud that I can't wait to show it off - right now! I have to give major credit to the ladies at knit night who suggested adding the elbow patches for maximum cuteness.

The pattern: Baby Sophisticate by Linden Heflin can be found here.

Late summer harvest

Well this is the biggest single batch of tomatoes I've taken out of the garden. I think our crop will be tapering off now as this weekend the weather has taken a turn to the autumnal. Just now it is 59 degrees, and raining.

Pressies, and oysters

Kayaking

What fun!! And so splashy; we were soaked.

Kayaking adventures.

The view from Twin Peaks

What a pretty city!

Celebration

Some celebration pictures from Amanda's birthday. Champagne in silly quantities consumed over labor day weekend.

Pacific ocean

Here are way too many pictures but our two visits to the beach were SO soul satisfying for me.
