Ski to Sea parade

If you live in Bellingham this isn't Memorial Day weekend; it's Ski to Sea weekend. Outside of our house was one of the many staging areas in the neighborhood.

We walked down to the parade, and stayed in the drizzle almost the whole time. Henry got all patriotic with his flag and throughly enjoyed the crowd.

New sweater

Well being underemployed is great for cranking out the crafts! :) This sweater was cast on the first of May... ya there were many long afternoons of porch sitting and knitting. I really like this sweater, it seems elegant to me. Thanks for the picture help, Linton. xxx

Vegetable news

The peas have something to climb on. (no not Henry, the yarn he's standing next to)

And I finally bought tomato starts.

And now a word from our sponsor

We live way to close to a certain store... yum, yum, yum.

spicy greens

These have turned out quite well. We now have spicy greens in all of our salads. Yum yum.

Henry in spring

He has shed about half his body weight and all day alternates between sunning himself and retreating to shady corners.

Mother's day

For all the moms who check this blog, happy mother's day.

Arcane Ruin

Linton has been working on this for a while. And he has done so well on it; I think it's his best terrain piece so far. Check out the highlighting on the stone, the grass, and cobble stone walk way which he made out of a brick wall piece for train models. So cool.

Strawberry Jam

It is really starting to feel summery around here. Yesterday shorts and lemonade. Today we had fresh strawberry jam on pancakes. This marks the first use of my new canner (Thanks, Santa - it is great!!).

These strawberries smelled so amazing just sitting there on the counter. The jam, however, is a little sweet. Oh well, you cook and learn!

It was a lemonade kind of a day.

Hood

I saw this pattern quite a while ago and was taken with the idea of knitting a standalone hood. Also, the purple knitwear phase continues. Hopefully this will go with enough things to make it a worthwhile knit. (Unlike the shirt in the photos, but a finished object has got to be donned immediately.)

Happy birthday, Nan!

Doesn't she look just like a birthday girl should? And even better: the night after this, her actual birthday, Shannon threw her a great surprise party.
