cuddly boys

It wasn't very long after taking this picture that I joined Linton and Henry... it's so nice to have snugly boys.

Purple basil

Purple basil... I had never seen such a thing! I got two plants here

Lily Mountain Trail

Lily Mountain Trail is about 2 miles long with almost 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Dogs are allowed off leash and Henry had an absolute blast. Here are some photos of us on the way up.

I am totally chipper in this photo. In about half an hour I'll be completely exhausted.

Linton just had to scramble up this rock face.

Notice the live long and prosper hands (we'd seen the Star Trek movie the night before)

View from the top

At the end of the trail you just have to guess where the trail is and scramble up rocks. However, like all the hikers had told us as we were going up, "It is totally worth it."

Henry started to look so curious about the edge that we had to put him on the leash lest Linton and I had a simultaneous heart attack.

We swapped group photos with a family who was at the top with us.

If you look in the center of this photo you can see the Stanly Hotel which Linton and I visited a couple of months ago.

The boys looking darling.

I felt so triumphant. Too bad we still had to do the hike down on our jello legs.

orange

The end of my Aunie Whiting style Christmas marmalade...

And an afternoon snack. I wonder if I could work up the gumption to make marmalade on my own. Hmmmm.

the beard

tomato

Tomatoes are notoriously hard to grow from seeds, and because of that I fully expect these tomato sprouts to keel over at any moment, shrivel up, or just stay that size forever... I’m not sure. I am, however, pretty proud they’ve sprouted at all. Please be impressed by their homemade mini greenhouse.

Dog bath

It is a beautiful day: 67 degrees and sunny. I’ve noticed Henry smelling pretty bad for about 3 days. Henry hates baths.

Mistaking bathwater for a nice drink.

Getting dry…

Poor wet dog looks drunk!
