The Stanley Hotel

This weekend we took a trip to the Roosevelt National Forest. It was lovely to get out of town and explore for a while. Our first stop was to Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. The hotel is famously the inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining, however it was distinctly unspooky on the glorious Saturday morning when we arrived. The front porch was soaked in sun, and littered with white wicker furniture; we drank tea & coffee.

The highlight was when a group of teenage girls asked us to take their picture; I nominated Linton for the job. One of the girls gushed, "Where are you from?" When he answered, "Scotland" she shot her fist into the air and shouted, "YES! I'm going there! This is my lucky day!" He proceeded to take their photo with several cameras and they continued to giggle at everything he said. Awwww.
