Night out to Stravaigin

We had dinner at Bank Street with Colin, Mary, Sean & Mel. Then off to Stravaigin for drinks. Stravaigin means to have a wander, and I was SO clever to point out that we were going to stravaigin to Stravaigin (how anyone gets by without me is a mystery). Rachel and Andy joined us at the pub, and it was a party.

Thank you for taking the group shot, Rachel!

I'm not going to lie... I was trying for an artful shot here.

Day trip to Edinburgh

We took a day trip to Edinburgh to visit Holly, and it was so much fun to see her.

I was so taken by this robot. It was made by Dylan and Holly when he visited her at his birthday. This robot included a tank, and food of tin foil (in the water bottle).

Check out the family resemblance!

We had lunch at the Grassmarket, and walked up Victoria Street, so picturesque.

We walked past this shop twice. About an hour had passed between the two photos.

The requisite picture of the castle.

A walk to Byres Road

Second day in Scotland, and a walk to Byres road. The sun was starting to poke out that day, a sign of the glorious weather to come.

Botanic Gardens Garage, link, an early multistory car park.

Lunch at the Ubiquitous Chip. The first of many lunch time beers. I was drouthy. What can I say?

Glorious, glorious consignment shop where I picked up a pair of black heels. There were times on this trip when I felt distinctly less like a tourist and more familiar with Scotland, and discovering that I knew my UK trouser and shoe size off the top of my head was one of those moments.

Taking the tube to see a movie at the GFT... oh, what was the name of that film? I blame the jet lag.

home again

Hi everybody! Linton and I are home as of last night. In the coming week I'll be sure to fill this space with lots of photos. We had a really fabulous time. It was wonderful to spend a little time with the family. I only wish it could have been longer.

The peonies bloomed while we were away, and coming home to them was delightful.
